Project Journal

This blog will show the concept, context and development of the animated Narrative, Supporting material, style guide, contextual review, timelines and process documentation of my animation project titled "1980 School Days".

Synopsis

A 3D character animation comedy about kids making fun of high school teachers in the late eighties. (1985 - 1989)

Concept

1980 School Days takes place in the decade of the 1980's where the hair is as nearly outrageous as the clothes and music.

The context is a small Australian country town High School called Strath High, where the generation gap between the teachers and students is at it's greatest distance since the sixties. This animation is derived from my personal work of the same name which has influences from Monty Pythons, and Mike Myer,s style of comedic entertainment.

This is a comedy with small separate sketches that tie together through the context (It all takes place at Strath High in the mid to late eighties).

My goal for this project is to create a new sketch or series of sketches, that take the cinematic, comedic timing and character animation to the next level.

It must be funny, believable and entertaining.
